Tim Phillips

Social Science Teacher, Township School District 214, Illinois

Tim Phillips has been a social science teacher in Township School District 214 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, since 1991. He currently is a Division Head for Social Science, World Languages, and ELL. He has taught a wide variety of social science courses including U.S. and world history as well as human geography. Tim also coaches track and field.

Tim earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in human development and social policy, and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Loyola University.

In his 28 years in District 214, Tim has taught at three of the six district schools, with different socio-economic characteristics present in each. Each transition to a new school has been an opportunity for growth, with new staff members to work with and fresh ideas to apply to the classroom.
