Core Curriculum
Shveta Miller has taught English literature and English as a foreign language in a variety of settings, ranging from a "high-needs" school in the South Bronx, New York, to an engineering college in Tokyo, Japan. She teaches with deep respect for learners of all types, whether her students are struggling readers, selectively mute language learners, or anxious Advanced Placement scholars. She has also served in school leadership positions, including as dean of discipline at a large urban high school, a mentor to student teachers, and a staff trainer. At HMH, Shveta appreciates opportunities to affect student achievement on a grand scale through coaching partnerships with teachers. She is excited about the opportunity to work with even more teachers across the country via HMH’s blended professional learning offerings.
Shveta has an Master of Arts in modern literature from University of London, a Master of Science in teaching, and a bachelor's degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she can be found in a library, at the river, or dining al fresco at a food truck with her family.
