Core Curriculum
Dr. Erin Fouberg is the associate vice president for academic affairs and a professor of geography at Northern State University (NSU) in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She holds a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is a broadly trained human geographer with expertise in political geography and geography education.
In 2015, the Journal of Geography in Higher Education bestowed the Biennial Award for Teaching and Learning to Dr. Fouberg, recognizing her research in geography education. She also served on the Board of Directors of the National Council for Geographic Education.
Students have recognized Dr. Fouberg’s excellence with awards for teaching and mentorship at each of the three universities where she has taught: University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Mary Washington, and Northern State University. She co-authors two Advanced Placement® & Elective programs including Human Geography for the AP course and Understanding World Regional Geography, 2e.
