Dr. Cathy Seeley has been a mathematics teacher, a district coordinator, and a State Director of Mathematics for Texas. She’s taught mathematics as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso and served as President of NCTM from 2004 to 2006. Dr. Seeley is the author of several books, including Making Sense of Math and Building a Math-Positive Culture; Faster Isn’t Smarter—Messages About Math, Teaching, and Learning in the 21st Century; and Smarter Than We Think—More Messages About Math, Teaching, and Learning in the 21st Century. Dr. Seeley worked for 20 years as a Senior Fellow at the Charles A. Dana Center at The University of Texas, and continues serve as a writer, speaker, and consultant.
