What is the secret to turning underperforming schools around? At Mary and Zel Lowman Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada, Principal Lou Markouzis recognized the need to bridge the divide between school and home to address the needs of the whole child.

At MSC 2018, we sat down with Lou to discuss how leaders in the Clark County School District “Turnaround Zone” shifted their focus to rigor, relevance, and relationships to improve instruction and drive extensive change and growth.

In this Facebook Live interview, Markouzis expands on the importance of relationships in building a culture and structure to ensure each student receives and is challenged through rigorous and relevant instruction that addresses the needs of the whole child.
