WHO: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat, beloved characters to children everywhere.
WHAT: The Man with the Yellow Hat, Curious George’s best friend, will hold two special readings at the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) booth at the Boston Book Festival on Saturday, Oct. 19. In addition to the readings, visitors to the HMH booth can enjoy sweet treats, relax with a good book, test out the latest HMH apps and win free app downloads. Children are encouraged to snap a photo with Curious George to earn a stamp for their festival Passport to Imagination, and all attendees are invited to tweet their pictures to @hmhco for a chance to win a tablet.
The Boston Book Festival is a free day-long event for all ages that features keynotes, panels and seminars by more than 130 world-renowned authors and presenters around the city.
Also on Saturday, HMH will sponsor a panel discussion inspired by its new anthology, Our Boston: Writers Celebrate the City They Love, which stands as a tribute to the victims and heroes of the Boston Marathon bombing. Acclaimed writers Lesley Visser, Mike Barnicle, Leigh Montville and Madeleine Blais will reflect on what Boston means to them. Bob Oakes will moderate the panel, and Gary Gentel, President, HMH Trade Publishing, will offer a special introduction.
