HMH and Agilix Collaborate to Power K-12 Blended and Personalized Learning Environments Nationwide

SAN ANTONIO (International Society for Technology in Education Conference) — Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) announced today that it has partnered with Agilix Labs, Inc. — a leading provider of innovative teaching and learning platforms — to provide its quality educational content within a single, personalized learning platform for K-12 students, educators, parents and administrators.

The partnership will provide schools with access to a broad range of HMH curriculum via Agilix’s BrainHoney® learning management system. In addition, the new solution will integrate seamlessly with HMH’s core assessment and curriculum platforms, providing educators with a true one-stop-shop for 21st century learning, powered by real-time student performance analytics and personalization tools.

Council Bluffs Community School District (CBCSD) in Iowa is one of the first districts to select HMH and Agilix to deliver a learning management system powered by BrainHoney. Customized for Council Bluffs’ 1:1 Google Chromebook program for over 4,200 students, the rollout will initially support the deployment of HMH’s Assess2Know program and other district-authored assessments. Aligned to Common Core and Iowa state standards, BrainHoney will enable educators to track usage and student progress against standards and tailor assessment items to meet those standards.

“Our collaboration with Agilix enables K-12 districts to establish and manage digital learning environments which fulfill the needs of all stakeholders in the education system,” said Tim Cannon, Executive Vice President of Alliances and Services at HMH. “By combining HMH’s content with the BrainHoney technology, teachers can spend less time focused on the integration of disparate systems and resources and more time effectively teaching individual students.”

The partnership between HMH and Agilix will offer a single Common-Core aligned platform for courses covering every subject from grades K-12 as well as integrated benchmark assessments with robust analytics and personalized learning paths for each student based on individual competency. The system is built to enable integration with Google Apps, Docs and Gmail and features an open content architecture which allows educators to share and collaborate with their peers.

“Council Bluffs is excited to take the next step for Project Connect, our 1:1 initiative. BrainHoney will provide a single interface for curriculum alignment, analysis, planning, teaching, learning, and assessment, and is the next logical step in our district's strategic initiative to bring mobile teaching and learning to our community,” said David Fringer, Director of Information Systems, Council Bluffs Community School District. “This implementation will expand the reach of our classrooms beyond ‘bricks and mortar’ and facilitate learning anytime, anywhere.”

“The combination of HMH's world-class content and Agilix’s award-winning learning platform, built on customizable xLi technology, provides schools and districts with an easy-to-use and effective solution that improves learning outcomes," said Curt Allen, President and CEO, Agilix. "This partnership enables educators to quickly and affordably deploy blended, virtual, and personalized learning solutions using trusted K-12 core curriculum content and assessments.”
