Intervention course expectations are fully addressed to close gaps and accelerate learning
In response to Florida’s adoption call for intensive intervention in reading, HMH has customized its validated, evidence-based reading intervention solutions to ensure that each Course submission includes targeted instruction featuring age-appropriate content and materials that address the B.E.S.T. standards.
Whether Florida students have irregular gaps in their reading skills, English is their second language, and/or their struggles are due to a learning disability, HMH’s reading intervention solutions include the supports they need to master the skills and vocabulary critical to accessing grade-level text. In addition to the personalized and adaptive online instruction within the student applications and a wide variety of independent reading texts carefully selected for their high interest and readability, HMH’s reading intervention solutions contain structured curriculum and digital resources for differentiating instruction with foundational reading, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing. That explicit, systematic instruction is available in print, as well as within interactive digital Teachers’ Editions, so that Florida educators may guide their students to reading proficiency in a variety of settings—in-school, remote and hybrid implementations.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports
Through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports approach, instructional services and resources are allocated in response to students’ individual academic and behavioral needs. The program is designed to intensify instruction through increased instructional time, fewer students per group, modified modes of presentation, and carefully matched instructional materials.
Science of Reading
Our brains are hardwired to learn to speak, but not to read. To learn to read, students need to be able to do two things:
- Decode written words and
- Comprehend what those words mean.
This requires explicit, systematic instruction and practice over time, which is personalized to the unique needs of each individual learner. Engineered to unlock the science behind reading success, our intervention solution incorporates the latest research and principles of how the brain learns to read.
