Each unit focuses on a high-interest topic and Essential Question, which students explore through different genres. Units follow a consistent instructional design, grounded in a gradual-release model that moves students from whole-class learning to peer collaboration to independence.

Each lesson also follows a consistent structure, with activities and instruction occurring before, during, and after reading.
