Inside The ReaL Book — A Collaborative Learning Experience

The Real Book student workbook represents the intersection of high-quality, research-based reading and language instruction. Each of the six Workshops within the Real Book are guided by an essential question that drives instruction over the course of four to six weeks.

The Real Book is an interactive work text used in Whole- and Small-Group instruction that:

• Provides explicit, systematic instruction in close reading - necessary to build deep comprehension of literary and informational texts
• Builds students’ content knowledge with Workshops that include carefully sequenced texts
• Encourages meaning making through close reading and critical thinking and vocabulary comprehension via narrow reading gives students a toolbox for writing success with research-based writing strategies
• Gives students a toolbox for writing success with research-based writing strategies
